ML350 \ ML530 \ DL360 to Windows 2003

Can anyone confirm what version of SmartStart I need to perform clean installs of 2003 on these servers or suggest a link to look at?

And is there a UK link to purchase this from?

Thanks

Hi,

You don't specify exactly which models you have G1,G2 or G3 however they all support Windows Server 2003. To load specific drivers for each model, particularly raid controller and network, go to the following link. At this link choose your Proliant model (G1, G2 or G3 etc) and the OS. You will be taken to the page where the drivers, firmware and Support Pack bundles are located.

Smartstart 6.40 is the latest available installation CD kit (Smartstart and Management CD pair). You should be able to order this from the UK Sales Centre on 0845 270 4215. If not, they can hopefully point you in the right direction to order it.

If these servers are G1, the latest SmartStart version you can run will be 5.50. As the previous post mentions, you can visit the HP website to download drivers for Server 2003 after you have loaded the OS. This OS should include the base drivers for most of HPs arrays and NIC to get you up and running.

Thanks for these replies - is there any easy way of telling whether these are G1,2,3 etc.?

I am based remotely but do have the serial numbers for the equipment.

Re: ML350 \ ML530 \ DL360 to Windows 2003

G1 CPU speeds generally top out at 1GHz. If you are running the remote insight agents on these servers, then you should be able to tell from Insight Manager. If the agents are fairly recent, you can use the web agent and look at them via yourweb browser by http://servername:2301. Depending on the version installed, you may be prompted for certificate installation from the remote server, be presenteed with a logon screen, or you can go straight into the view as an anonymous user. The summary screens will then tell which model of server you are running on.

Once you determine this, you can browse to http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/productbulletin.html, select the region you are in, and view the various models. The G1 and G2 models (except for ML530G2) will be found under retired products.

I am not as familiar with the ML350, but the Dl360G2 and DL360G3 offer remote insight connectivity for remote power off/on, view post screens until goes into graphical mode. The ML530 does not have this feature built in, but is offered as an add-on via RILOE II.

Hope this helps.
