ML350 Rack Type with 30 Disks - clarrification
Hi HP Guru,
We have an ML350 Gen9 (Rack Chassis) with 1x Smart Array 840/4G.
How many SAS Expander do we need to support 30 Disks ?
Can a single SAS Expander support all 30 Disks?
Hoping for your quick response.
Thank you

Re: ML350 Rack Type with 30 Disks - clarrification
Hi,
The HP 12G SAS Expander Card supports upto 26 internal drive bays (supports 3 8SFF drive backplanes with each holding 8 drive bays + 2SFF back of the server). Please refer to its QuickSpecs.
Regards,
Vijayasarathy

Re: ML350 Rack Type with 30 Disks - clarrification
Hi,
Just to clarrify:
Will a 1x Smart P840/4G and 1x SAS expander support 30 Disks of a ML350 Gen 9 (Rack Chassis)?
We configured on SBW and we did not see any errors.
Can you double confirm if we really need a second SAS expander.
We configured on SBW with 1x P840/4G and 1x SAS Expander.
At 3 additional Optional Hard Drive Cage and including the original hard drive cage (8 bays).
The System cam support 32 Disks
There is no error message with SBW.
========================================
but once, we add a 4th optional hard drive cage,
SBW will prompt this error message.
Requesting us to add another SAS Expander or RAID controller.
Thanks,
