ML350 Server Showing 2 Processors when only 1 exists

I am running a Proliant ML350 G3 server with Novell 6.0 sp3. The Monitor screen shows 2 active processors where only 1 exists.
Also, the utilization is showing a constant erroneous 50 to 60% when it should really only be 0 to 10%.
I understand there is a patch or driver update I can apply. It here anyone out ther who has heard of this problem, and might know how to resolve it?
Any help would be greaty appreciated.

Re: ML350 Server Showing 2 Processors when only 1 exists

Hi,

This is due to the CPU hyperthreading enabled. Where as update the BIOS to see any change in the behaviour.

But is due to COU Hyperthreading.

Re: ML350 Server Showing 2 Processors when only 1 exists

Dear Prashant S.

I downloaded the latest BIOS update and installed it. The monitor screen in Novell still showed 2 processors and high utilization.

I tried shutting off hyper-threading and the processors showed 1, but then the utilization stayed at 100%.

Any other ideas?

Not sure if this is the issue...
Enjoy!

Nicholas:

You may want to try SP4:

Here's the link for server updates:

Re: ML350 Server Showing 2 Processors when only 1 exists

Make sure that you are using version 1.06 or later of the ProLiant ACPI Multiprocessor driver component (contains: CPQACPI.PSM, CPQACA.NLM, CPQASL.NLM, CPQACMGR.NLM, CPQACPWR.NLM). This component should be available via the ProLiant driver download webpages at www.hp.com/support. The NW60 SP3 did not install those drivers correctly; a patch was later posted to Novell's website, but those drivers have since rev-ed to v1.06.
