Re: ML350 T04 X3 Excessive Fan Noise

Hi Wayne

Fans noise will be high when server is powered on. Its speed depends on inside temperature. When the temperature inside the server chasis is brought down with recommende environmental conditions, fans speed will come down and thus the moise.

Very possible that CPU fan is failed so chassis (system) fan speed up. Try remove one of CPUs (with correspondent PPM-module). We have the same case recently. BR, Oleg.

Re: ML350 T04 X3 Excessive Fan Noise

Are there any errors showing up in either the event viewer or the integrated management log? Have you looked at the system management homepage? If so, are there any problems showing up there?
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: ML350 T04 X3 Excessive Fan Noise

Thanks Guys,

There are no indication in the System Management Homepage. In the environment it shows all fan OK.
1 System 41 C 57 C Caution
2 CPU 58 C 80 C Caution
3 CPU 72 C 80 C Caution

I restarted the server and an event showed in the event log.

System Information Agent: Health: Post Errors were detected. One or more Power-On-Self-Test errors were detected during server startup.
[SNMP TRAP: 6027 in CPQHLTH.MIB]

Maybe this has something to do with it? I found a refernce in the HP Forum but there are no solutions provided.
