Re: ML350 and storageworks DAT24

Yes You can.

I have many such installations done in the past...

You need to connect the DAT 24 to a SCSI channel. (Probably SCSI Channel B)

Assign it an ID (Default 6 I believe)

Greetzzz Don't forget to download the latest version of the library and tape tools, and update the firmware of the tape streamer.

Kind regards...

Re: ML350 and storageworks DAT24

I am trying to do the same thing (connect a Compaq internal 12/24 DAT #122873-001 to the integrated SCSI adapter), but cannot find a working solution. The SCSI adapter finds the hot swap drive on channel A, but then locks up when trying to find any devices on channel B. The DAT drive worked fine in a different server (ML330). I came across a PDF on the HP site that seems to give conflicting info regarding this: http://h200005.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00310097/c00310097.pdf

If I am interpreting this correctly, it says that the DAT 24i drive can be used with the Ultra 320 SCSI HBA, but "is not support with embedded HBA". Isn't the Ultra 320 the embedded HBA on the Proliant 350?

What am I missing here?

I don't know which generation server do you have, but for ML350G4 it is not supported

Re: ML350 and storageworks DAT24

I've been able to get these types of drives to work on the embedded of the G4, but you usually have to use one of the older type scsi cables (grey colored).
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
