ML350 cannot boot from IDE
Hi, I'm setting up a new Proliant ML350 server, it has an integrated Ultra3 SCSI adapter where only a tape drive is connected and an HP Smart Array 641 controller where raid disks are connected, so far so good.
In order to simplify maintenance and recover operations I want to install an additional IDE disk where I can boot from in emergency situations (restore full backup, fix boot problems etc.).
The problem is that I cannot set the Embedded IDE controller as first in "Boot Controller Order" bios setup, only order position 2 is allowed (!!).
Is there any workaround? How can it be that I cannot boot from IDE disk?!?!
TIA for any answer.
Enrico

Re: ML350 cannot boot from IDE
Not supported to Use Onboard IDE controller for IDE Hard drives, you might get more option if optional IDE Card Installed (not Guaranteed)
