ML350 chirping alarm

Hello,

Periodically (about once per day) our ML350 g3 server (tower case) makes a high pitched chirping sound. It appears to be an alarm (I was guessing temperature) but whenever I check the diagnostics I don't see anything out of the ordinary. This has been going on for several months, so we're getting concerned that this is an indication of a bigger problem and would like to track it down.

Any advice?

Re: ML350 chirping alarm

Hello Andrew,

Chirping sound as high as an Alarm !?!! very unusual.

Run a Diags for NOISE TEST;

Also refer:

"The tests that require a numeric value to be entered" holds good for NEWER Version of Diags too !

Re: ML350 chirping alarm

You sure you don't have a UPS underneath that server?
Sounds exactly like the failed battery alarm one might produce.

Re: ML350 chirping alarm

The UPS is entirely plausible as there is one right next to the server, need to look into this further but right now the LEDs on it look fine, but I also haven't heard the alarm in a few weeks.
