ML350 g6 CPU upgrade options
We have an HP ProLiant ML350 G6 server that was purchased with E5620 2.4 quad-core CPU. We would like to upgrade it to the fastest possible CPU.
Reading the quick-spec sheet for the server, looks like there fastest CPU kit mentioned is an X5675 3.0GHz. I am wondering if we can use something faster, like X5690 or X5687. Even if it doesn't come as a kit, we could purchase CPU by itself and reuse the heatsink from the old one.
I found a mention of X5687 in the latest BIOS patch (D22 , 2011.05.05 (A) (6 Jul 2011), it says "Resolved an issue where the system ... is configured with Intel Xeon 5687 processors ..." which makes me believe that at least X5687 is going to work with it.
Any thoughts?

Long time ago, just wondering if you ever tried this?
