ML350 on-board IDE Capacity limitations.

I've added 2 x Seagate 250GB drives. Windows 2000 Server picks them up as 130GB - seems to be a BIOS limitation. Other than that, they work fine. I can mirror or stripe them or whatever.

Question: Is the Seagate Disk Wizard an option? Has anybody successfully done this?

(System runs on a 641 Smart Array RAID5)

Re: ML350 on-board IDE Capacity limitations.

After some minutes of searching with google I found that there's a 137GB limitation in Windows for ATA Drives.

Search google for "137Gb limitation"

Microsoft has this KB Article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305098

You haven't mentioned the generation of your server nor the Service Pack applied to the OS?

Check the attachment as well.

Re: ML350 on-board IDE Capacity limitations.

It's a G3 on SP4 - fully patched with Windows online updates.

I strongly disagree with you about the limit. I have many Windows 2000 instalations with drives larger than 137GB. I've successfully partitioned a 320GB into 130GB and 190GB. The NTFS limit is 2TB.
