ML350E v2 Gen 8 Are redundant power really needed?

I have a ML350E V2 Gen8 server for my lab (no need for redundancy).  Quick specs says if you have RDIMMS or 2 CPU's you need 2 power supplies.

Using HPE power advisor I see if I load up with 2 E5-2403V2 quad core processors, 10 16GB RDIMMS (160GB) and 4 4TB 6G SATA drives.  My max load is 278 and idle is 191.  Seems like the existing 460W factory integrated power supply should be sufficient.

Seems silly to say if you have even 1 RDIMM you need 2 PS..  I currently have 3 RDIMMS, 1 CPU and 2 4TB drives, (108w idle, 144w max).

So what is the story here?  Seems like quick specs is overly conservative?

NOTE: Redundant PSU Kit (PN: 738661-B21) is required for any 2P configuration.

NOTE: Redundant PSU Kit (PN: 738661-B21) is required for RDIMMs, whether 1 or 2 CPUs are populated.
