Re: ML350G4p redundant fan

The ML350 G4p supports 2 fans to provide proper airflow to the system. The server ships standard with 1 fan and one additional fan for redundancy. The new processor is equipped with a fan as part of the assembly and the power supply is also equipped with a fan.

Re: ML350G4p redundant fan

Normally Hot Plug it's something that you pull out failed and push in good one instantaneously , removing Screws, Cover, disconnecting cables already make procedure as not Hot Plug; it say's at Page

Removing redundant system fan
NOTE: This is a non-hot plug procedure.

Along you might consider replace fan on the fly - hot plug procedures its chipset dependable - ML350 G4 (p) is not Hot Plug for PCI or Fan

Re: ML350G4p redundant fan

Hi,

That is correct as sugested above
and refered in doc
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c00411115

One of the changes to the ML350 G4 includes the removal of the drive fan. A drive fan is no longer installed to the rear of the SCSI backplane on the center wall. There is only one discrete fan component. The new processor is equipped with a fan as part of the assembly and the power supply is also equipped with a fan.

Redundant Fan

Customers wishing to install a redundant fan, have the option to install another fan in the same location as the standard installed fan. The redundant fan installs on top of the standard fan. There are two standoffs on the standard fan assembly and a screw hole. The redundant fan is set on the standoffs and a thumbscrew secures it to the screw hole

Re: ML350G4p redundant fan

The fans in this server are not hotplug. In fact they're not pluggable at all. These fans have fan connectors similar to what you would fine in a standard pc (3-4 pin header with a cable plugged into it).
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
