ML350G5 + E200 restart Problem
we have two ML350 G5 with nearly same problem:
They restart on different times a week, there were no hardware changes and also no new big software installation.
- Windows 2003 R2 / SP2
- E200 Firmware 1.20
- 4x72 GB SAS RAID5
- I found this:
An updated Storport storage driver is available for Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932755/en-us
(cant find KB932755 on C)
- Server restarts one/two times a day
- the red LED in front of the chassis is on, (box with zick-zack line)
In what order should we do the troubleshooting?
0. Verifying Backup
1. Insert Smartstart CD and Hardware Test 10 rounds
2. Firmwareupgrade of E200, installing every version, making restart till we have the current one
3. HD SAS Firmware upgrade via Firmware Maintance CD
4. Reinstall the current Proliant Support Pack
5. Try installing the a.m. MS Storport Fix?
Best Regards and thank you very much in advance!

Re: ML350G5 + E200 restart Problem
first reseat all dims and pci cards
"you say he red LED in front of the chassis is on, (box with zick-zack line
this means internal issue , but can also be power supply
do you have one or two power supplies installed ?
if one move into other slot if two swap thema round,
how many cpu's in theses serves
also any leds amber or red when server goes down look on system board ,
any yellow led near cpu ??
no in system management home page in logs in iml log what errors post log I will check it
as you are new to forums
hint :)
This is how we thank each other in the forum

Re: ML350G5 + E200 restart Problem
ok I understand my actionplan like this way.
1. reseat dims and the ISDN PCI Card
Yes, red mentioned LED is on after the restart, also the server turns off and the red LED is.
2. There is one Power Supply, we will move it to other slot.
3. One CPU
3. LEDs on Mainboard will be checked for red of amber.
4. IML Screenshot is enclosed to this Post.

Re: ML350G5 + E200 restart Problem
looks like 2 issues 1 is actually a glitch ,
lets look at the glitch first
shutdown server remove the cache battery on the raid controller ,
reboot the server accept option to continue with data loss (the data loss is only the data in the battery so thats okay,
now shutdown server
now replace the battery and reboot now update firmwares , on the server with with firmware cd version 8.6
now with power supply in other slot if issues continues after firmwares and battery done as above , change the power supply , if issue persists change power supply backplane,
i even know the part number for this power supply in my head 403781-001
special note "" this server should ideally always be run with 2 power supplies for so many reasons,
any issues post back
This is how we thank each other in the forum

Re: ML350G5 + E200 restart Problem
thank you for your help.
The Solution was a new powersupply.
HP Support needed a foto of the old, and we got a new one.
After installing the Proliant Support Pack, I can├В┬┤t reach the Buffalo USB Drive.
I deleted the blond grey USB Drive Entry in device manager, it didn├В┬┤t helped.
I tested the USB Drive on another PC.
Best Regards
