ML370 G1 Processor Upgrade

Hi,I have a ML370 G1 that ran on a single 800 Mhz Processor so far. I purchased two 1Ghz PIII's, same stepping, and another VRM to make this a dual 2Ghz system.I can put in any of the new 1Ghz CPUs and everything works fine. I checked both VRMs, and with single CPU, both work. There is 1GB RAM (single stick, also new), which works also.The problem is, as soon as I put in both CPUs and VRMs, the system boots for about 15 seconds (there is no video signal during that time) and then just shuts down, no beeps or anything, just a shutdown.I was wondering what this could be? Do I have to adjust SW1 for dual processors? If so, what setting? I looked around, but I haven't found any settings for that.Thanks for your help.Manuel

Be sure to update your System Configuration either with the System Partition or with your SmartStart CD. If you have neither, you can use the SCU diskette version:

Hi,well, as it seems, that wasn't the problem. It was something rather wired... The processors I got are not genuine compaq/HP, and their heatsinks are a bit bigger and considerably heavier (about twice). For some reason they must have blocked the CPU from properly sitting in the slot. After some trial and error I just removed the guides and now it works. I've already ordered different heatsinks (foxconn) that will allow to put the guides back in...I didn't have to change any settings, it works fine now.Thanks,Manuel
