The onboard storage controller is
Integrated Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Adapter 1
An internal mass storage capacity of 218.4 GB. This configuration includes 6 x 36.4 GB 1" hard drives installed into the internal hot plug drive cage only.
A maximum mass storage capacity of 291.2 GB. This configuration includes 6 x 36.4 GB 1" hard drives installed into the internal hot plug drive cage and 2 x 36.4 GB internal non-hot plug hard drives installed into the removable media bays.
I suggest you use Wide Ultra3 SCSI hard drives,
36.4 GB Wide Ultra3 SCSI hard drives

It's capacity that I'm after, although the speed would come in handy for streaming video, etc.
I think I'll see if I can get hold of a compatible Smart Array card from an old server at work and stick that in...
