ML370 G2 - Hard Drive Compatibility

Should an ML370 G2 support 146.8GB Ultra320 SCSI disks on its onboard Compaq SCSI controller (not a RAID array controller)? I can't find any specs for compatitble drives!

I don't really want to go down the lines of obtaining and installing a Smart Array card...

The onboard storage controller is

A maximum mass storage capacity of 291.2 GB. This configuration includes 6 x 36.4 GB 1" hard drives installed into the internal hot plug drive cage and 2 x 36.4 GB internal non-hot plug hard drives installed into the removable media bays.


I suggest you use Wide Ultra3 SCSI hard drives,
36.4 GB Wide Ultra3 SCSI hard drives

yes the controller will support the harddrives but it will still be runing at Wide Ultra3 speed 160MBps instead of 320MBps supported by ultra320 hdd's.

It's capacity that I'm after, although the speed would come in handy for streaming video, etc.

I think I'll see if I can get hold of a compatible Smart Array card from an old server at work and stick that in...
