ML370 G2 PCI Hot-Swap Problem

From what I have been able to establish the first 2 PCI ports are Hot Swappable. I am having problem with both of them, My Smart Array 5300 and my insight board will not load when in that port. They work fin in other PCI ports. The LED on those ports is always red.

Is there something i need to do, reset the port, test the port? Any thoughts or suggestions would help at this point.

Try clearing nvwam (6th pin on the system maintenance switch).

Firmware update perhaps?

Re: ML370 G2 PCI Hot-Swap Problem

I tried the switch, did not help. I am looking for firmware updates now.

A bit more detail on the error: I was setting up the computer, with both card in the Hot-Swap ports. I was in windows installing SQL server. After a Reboot, windows would not reload. When i went and checked the server the LED was only on for the Smart Array 5300, so i reseated the card. When I turned the server back on, both slots then went red. So i moved them to other PCI ports in the machine and they worked there.

Hmm, interesting...

Not sre if it is a good idea, but can you try changing the IRQs in RBSU?

Which device would i change IRQ's for?

Does the hot-Swap Plug have IRQs?

No, I mean something different - install the PCI Cards in the hot-swap slots and then try changing the setting.

Re: ML370 G2 PCI Hot-Swap Problem

Did you succeed updating the firmware?

If you have win 2k3, this is the latest bios:

Re: ML370 G2 PCI Hot-Swap Problem

I have not updated the firmware yet, i am useing 2003.

The problem with changing the IRQ's is that the cards are not recognized. So when I them in the hot-swap plugs the cards to not show up. I am starting to think they failed..

I will load up that update, thanks for posting it.
