ML370 G2 and Windows 2003

I have just bought a ML370G2 server.
I have tried using Smart Start 7.3 to do a automated install.
All is fine, the Smart Process works ok, it then asks for the OS Disk, all is copied.
The server re-boots, i remove the disk.
The server then copies more files from the hard drive
Then, when the screen shows "Windows is starting set up" the screen freezes and stays there.

I have tried several times with the same result also tried older revisions of Start Smart with the same result.

Please help !!!!!

Re: ML370 G2 and Windows 2003

hi Nickwebbs

when you say that previous links did not help you? you mean you already tried smartstart 7.9 - 7.91? and the same?

because 7.3 it is very very old version

something else which windows? 2000 - 2003?

----

also try booting in safe mode (f8) and check if you can enter

Re: ML370 G2 and Windows 2003

I have also tried the latest smart start, and when the smart start finishes the initial screen to %100 the screen switches off and stays off. The OS is Windows 2003 Enterprise

Re: ML370 G2 and Windows 2003

Hi,
Can you try to install without SmartStart - just boot from windows 2003 CD
(you probably will need to add SmartArray driver if you have SmartArray on this server)

Re: ML370 G2 and Windows 2003

Nick,

>> "Windows is starting set up" the screen freezes and stays there

I have seen such behaviour on G1 servers (and Proliant 1600 as well). The solution was to set windows 2000 as OS in RBSU (system configuration utility)
Although you have G2 server - can you seek for this option in server BIOS - probably G2 still have such option?
(I currently have only G1, G3, G4, G5 servers, so I cannot check on G2...)

Re: ML370 G2 and Windows 2003

Do you have any PCI devices installed? If yes - what are they?

Re: ML370 G2 and Windows 2003

Yes the there is one PCI device, a 5302/64bit Smart Aray conroller which is used to connect the drives.

The OS is set to Other OS, but have also tried set to Windows 2000
