ML370 G3 System board dead - Raid recovery?

Hi All,

I just had a system board die on an ML370 G3. I plan to have the system board replaced, but I wanted to know whether it would be able to read the raid array that existed previously, and essentially just boot up without having to use tape recovery.

I believe the controller is a Smart Array 641, with 6x72GB drives attached in a RAID 5 configuration.

Re: ML370 G3 System board dead - Raid recovery?

Hi Martin,

if you want to save all of your RAID configuration , array, data on discs, you must replace motherboard with the same one.
Look for spare on MB and use the same number for replacement part.
And don't worry, all configuration setting are saved on discs, so if you replace MB with the same one you will boot up your server without problems.

Superb, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. We are sourcing a replacement HP system board as we speak.

Thanks!
