But i think that's a not a good idea to upgrade such an old server - i'm pretty sure that you can find a new one with a price close to two CPUs from list above and it will be faster. Well... Only if you aren't going to buy CPUs on eBay :)

You cannot upgrade a 400mhz FSB ML370 G3 to a 533mhz system. They have a different motherboard. I have tried to get a 400mhz motherboard to run at 533mhz by changing the switch settings on page 4-16 of the Server Maintenance and Service Guide and it does not change the FSB. During the POST it tells you that this system does not support 533mhz FSB and it will boot, but at 400mhz. Here are the motherboard part numbers:
290559-001 400mhz FSB
316864-001 533mhz FSB
I am posting this to an old thread to help anyone out there who was trying to maximize the performance of an ML370 G3 as I did. I saw this post originally and ordered the 3.2/2MB/533mhz processors and they will not run at 533mhz on the 290559-001 motherboard.
