ML370 G3 cpu fan failure

I have five ML370 G3 servers,each with 2 cpus ,2 power supplies,4 cpu fans and 2 I/O fans.
during last two month 3 of servers encountered the following error:
cpu fans numbered 2,3,4 failed and error 1611 apears in POST
i checked fans and power supplies, they are not damaged.
any idea to help me?

Re: ML370 G3 cpu fan failure

Hi mmasrouri,

We recently had a similar problem. HP told us the most recent BIOS fixed the problem but that once it happened the board had to be replaced. After replacing board it works fine.

Re: ML370 G3 cpu fan failure

This is a documented hardware fault with some system boards on these servers.

Apparently, some internal circuitry can overheat and this results in a reported multiple fan failure.

Affected system boards are replaced under warranty.

New boards have re-routed circuit.

Can't find any official links to point you to but engineers alwyas seem aware of it.

If you bought all of the servers in a single batch it may be worth speaking to your sales rep and asked for the others to be swapped as a pre-emptive fix.

Re: ML370 G3 cpu fan failure

BTDT about 2 months ago. New MB fixed it. It seems as if a LOT of these boards are going to fail when they reach a certain age. Preemptive replacement might be in order if you have an ML370 nearing warranty expiration.
