ML370 G3 - disabling redundant memory

I have an ML370 G3 that has 12Gb of memory - 8Gb active and 4Gb as redundant spare, currently running ESX Server 2.5

I want to reinstall this box as an ESX 3.5 server and in the process free up all 12Gb for use (I am not worried about redundant memory as it will be going in to an ESX farm so can vmotion off hosted servers in case of hardware failures).

If possible, how do I go about changing the memory settings? There is no BIOS on the machine as the original ESX install wiped the partition. I have tried booting from SmartStart but this just wants me to go through the whole OS install.

Never mind, found it in the F9 options!

That's correct!

F9 when prompted for the ROM Based setup utility (RBSU)
- System Options
- Advance Memory Protection
- Select "Advance ECC Support" instead of "Online Spare with ECC Support"
