ML370 G3 issue (plz help)

Hi All,

i am having a problem with an ML370G3 server  with a smart array card; and whenever im tryin to install linux on it the server it is hanging so i tried to remove the smart array card and try to install the OS by connecting directly the backplane an integrated SCSI port on the motherboard and now whenever i tried to reboot the server it also hangs.

At the end i decided to install the OS without the smart array card, however it is not impossible.

Any idea will be much appreciated.

Regards

Re: ML370 G3 issue (plz help)

Hi,

Check if the controller driver is making the issue during installation, try using a different driver other than the one bundled with OS and also check the linux version is it compatible with hardware.

Thanks,

Re: ML370 G3 issue (plz help)

Hi All, first of all thanks for your replies. It is the Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 version that im installing directly from the installation media without using a Smart Start CD as on smart start there is not any option to install sles 10.

Re: ML370 G3 issue (plz help)

SLES 10 doesn't appear to be supported on this model server.  It may take some tricks to actually get it to work.  SLES 9 is supported just fine though.

You could try doing a SLES 9 install with the smartstart CD, then upgrade to 10?
