Hi,

Check the memory configuration on the server from the link below
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12478_na/12478_na.html#Memory

The part number you have mentioned seems to be compatible with this server.

Install two dimms at a time i.e. in only slots 1 & 5 and also try one proc and remove any pci cards.

Keep us posted and all the best !

We went thru all of that specs show our configuration, and we have tried all combinations with same results.

test with the 2GB sticks in the original slots and add a single new set, see if the server boots with this.

Re: ML370 G5 64gb memory won't boot

okay with the new firmware we started with 8 gb
and boot, and that worked we added 8gb more to 16gb and it boots, we are currently up to 32gb
between both memory boards and it works. We are
adding slowly 8gb at a time and booting. This
makes it a slow process, it should just recognize 64gb from the onset.

Re: ML370 G5 64gb memory won't boot

By following the method i stated in my previous reply we now have the machine up and running with 64gb. I would still like to know why technically you cannot put the whole 64gb in one shot and expect it to boot.

Re: ML370 G5 64gb memory won't boot

Technically it should work the first time.
Above options are only to determine if "some" stick does not work as expected.

At the end all stick apear to function, so possibly only a bad contact (badly seated stick or card) may have been the cause of the initial problem.

If you have time to spare you can try first to go back to 4G and then again to 64G in a single step.

Re: ML370 G5 64gb memory won't boot

Same problem for me when I directly started to move to 32GB to 64GB.

Require to install 16Gb (4x4Gb) per 16GB to start normally.

Thank you for the post that helped me to solve my problem.
