We just brought a ML370 G5 server with a P400/512 and brought another hard drive cage so that we can use all 16 bays. What I want to do is have the first 2 bays as Raid 0+1 and use the rest (bays 3-16) with a spare as one logical drive. Is this possible as I can't seem to expand the drives from one HD cage to the other.
Thanks for your response.

Re: ML370 G5 - Use 14 Drives in one logical drive.
I don't got a lot of hands experience on with the p-models. But it shouldn't differ a lot from the old smart array models.
The P400 do support a max of 18 drives.

ensure you got your cabling correct

Re: ML370 G5 - Use 14 Drives in one logical drive.
Thanks for replying. The cabelling side of it is where I'm getting confused I think. On the P400 you have 2 connectors and on each HD cage you have another 2 connectors, so from each board, I can only connect one P400 to one cage at a time so how do I get the two P400s to link to each other?
At the moment I have 2 P400/512s and 2 HD cages. Both connected individually.
Thanks.

Re: ML370 G5 - Use 14 Drives in one logical drive.
So there's no way I can get bays 3-16 all into one logical drive then, seeing as each array cannot be created between controllers.
Thanks once again.
