We have been used ML370 with xeon 5150 2.66ghz dual core cpu.
And last week we bought 2 new cpu, Xeon 5420 2.66ghz quad-core. This processor writes as well-matched with ML370 in HP server page. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/15351-15351-241434-241646-241477-1121474.html
After the bios updates, I'll get cpu error message on bios screen when I placed the cpus into the server.
The error likes that : "Your server's chipset 5000 didn't support this cpu. System Halted!"
Our rom flash version is : 11/13/2007 (lastest version)
So, how can i solve this, is there any wrong or missing way what I did not do?
Please help

Solutionif you check this link
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12478_na/12478_na.html#Options
there 4 types of Procs for this server:
dual Core
x50
x51
x52
Quad Core
x53
x54
and both models system Board is different so that is your issue you need to change your system board in order to support those new Processors you need to change your SB.
a) System board with processor cage,
supports Intel├В┬о Xeon├В┬о 50xx and 51xx
processors
409428-001
b) System board with processor cage,
supports Intel├В┬о Xeon├В┬о 52xx, 53xx,
and 54xx processors*
434719-001
so you had 5150 and now you have 5420 so that is the issue your System board

Re: ML370 G5 and Xeon 5420 Quad-Core Cpu Problem
As you had Xeon 51xx CPUs installed, the system board is capable of accepting dual core CPUs only.
Furthermore, processor mixing is not supported even in the same cores (dual-core / quad-core). That means you cannot mix 2 different dual-core processors. E.g. 2 x 5150 & 2 x 5160.
So either you will have to buy 2 x Xeon 5150 CPUs, or go for the system board that supports quad-core processors.
