ML370 OS cannot find harddrive???
First know that our company had a server put in by an employee that is no longer with us, so we are now playing the guessing game. We have an ML370 server that apparently had a failed SCSI harddrive, ID4. We replaced with a new harddrive, but upon reboot, the computer would not load Windows 2000 advan server. Kept saying disc error. We tried to reinstall the OS using the Smart CD and it would get all the way to the end and finally say "cannot find harddrive". Can anyone help us please in lay mans terms? thank you

Re: ML370 OS cannot find harddrive???
Hello Rebel,
Which version of Smart Start did you use?? How much RAM do you have?? Did you update the system bios?? If not here is the link:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1119.html
This link has all the software related to your server assuming that you have ML370 first generation.
Since you are starting from scratch, the best way would be to run system erase(assuming no data is involved), you will be prompted to reboot the system after system erase. At that point just shut down the server and swapp the position of the hdds between each other. Now reboot with Smart start and choose Assisted method of installation. One more thing, if you have RAM more then one gig then bring it down and after you finish installation just bump it back up. Please let me know as to how you make out.
Regards,

Re: ML370 OS cannot find harddrive???
Hi Sunril,
It has 768Mb and using SmartStart ver 4.90. We tried the assisted start and everything seemed to go well, but in the end...No luck. Still cannot find the harddrive. Another co-worker says he believes the array controller drivers are messed up. We use Wide Ultra3 SCSI harddrives. Does this new information help anymore?
Thanks :)

Re: ML370 OS cannot find harddrive???
Hello Rebel,
Please follow the process I explained in my previous post. Please make sure that the boot controller order is set to first. The set up of boot controller is very important and make sure you check the cable for any bent/damaged pins as well. By the way which smart array controller do you have??
