ML370 PCI hotplug problem with Gigabit Ethernet

I'm running a ML370 G2 with Windows 2003 SBS premium and supportpack 7.40B installed.

I have 2 SMC9452TX-1 Gigabit NIC's (p/n 99-012084-502).

When I install these NIC's in the PCI-hotplug slots, I am able to connect to the internet and surf around. But files I download are corrupted.

When I install these NIC's in the normal PCI slots, there is no problem at all.

The main difference between these type of slots is that the hotplug works with 64bit/66MHz/3.3volts and the normal slots with 64bit/33MHz/5volts.

According to SMC, the NIC's are compatible with both 66MHz and 33MHz. Also according to SMC, the NIC's are not compatible with Windows 2003. However, I installed the NIC's with the Windows XP drivers and as said, they work fine in the normal PCI slots.

Is there somebody who has a hint or a solution for me?

Thanks,

Re: ML370 PCI hotplug problem with Gigabit Ethernet

I need a pair of glasses... I checked the datasheet again of the NIC. It only works on 32bit.

The normal PCI slots apperently support autosensing, and the PCI hotplug slots don't...?!
