ML370 RAID ARRAY QUESTION

I have a ML370 with smart array (2 I think)and 5 disks using raid 5. Where is the info regarding array configuration stored ? Is it in bios or on the hard drives ?
Is it possible to take the drives from one server and place them in an identical server with same raid controller and boot up or does the raid array need configuring and the disks reloaded?
I hope to be able to swop disks from one server to another if a hardware fault occurs. Is this possible ?

Thanks
Dave

Re: ML370 RAID ARRAY QUESTION

Smart Array configuration is stored on the hard drives, in RAID controller NVRAM and in system NVRAM.

It is possible to take drives from one server and to place them in an identical server.

(If that wouldn't work it would not be possible to access data on systems with on-board Smart controller where the system board was replaced)
