ML370 disk mirroring

We recently bought an hp ml370 g4 server to use with windows 2003. The machine comes with 2 146 hard drives on hp ultra4 dual channel scsi. Can I do disk mirroring? And how?

Normally you have a smart array controller in your server

Create a HW RAID-1
You can do this by booting from the SmartArray CD

I checked with the SmartStart CD and it says there is no SmartArray controller on the system and also the supplier did not include any SmardArray CD. Is it build in on the motherborad and should we activate it?

Hello mit,

This model will not have a smart array controller unless ordered which means you can't implement hardware raid.

If you want to go with the present setup,don't bother about using a smartstart cd.

1.During POST after the scsi card is detected,access the scsi bios(generally f8 or ctrl+a) and configure an array.

2.Boot through the Win 2k3 Cd and provide the scsi card drivers by pressing F6 while installation.

This is the closest i could find now.Readme says single channel.Let know if this does'nt work.

Thank you for replying. On my ML370G4 I already installed Windows2003 and the driver you mentioned was there and working fine. My problem is that I want the two disks mirrored without the smartarray controller which we did not order. Is it possible?

I think it would be a software raid implementation now without the scsi controller.
Try mirroring the disks via Disk Mgmt.
