ML370G3 -- DVD-ROM drive disappears from Explorer randomly

Hi! I'm having a problem with an HP ProLiant ML370G3 during the setup of Windows 2000/2003. I'm using the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit's instructions to do a fully unattended install of Windows, and all of the Compaq drivers install correctly. However, at random intervals during the setup of other software, the DVD-ROM drive (supported Compaq option kit) will stop responding and disappear from Explorer. The funny thing is that the DVD's eject button also stops working, and won't eject the tray. I have to physically power off the server to get the DVD to function again. This problem is occurring on all of our ML370s.

Anyone else having this problem?

I am having a similar issue with Netware and I am being told that I should disable the USB ports and change the 5300 IRQ to 10.

Worth a try. Sorry I have not managed to get appropriate change approval and downtime to try this yet.
