Is there an article said that an U320 hard disk can be added to an U3 controller. The case is "my client want to add 2 x 300 Gb to their ML530 g1".
Is there will no problem ? Thank you.

SolutionWe can use U320 Hdd in U3 Controller. Check the quick specs for the U320 Hdds.
Check the section - Ultra320 SCSI Universal Disk Drives: "Ultra320 Universal drives add the feature of hot plug compatibility between any Ultra320, Ultra3 or Ultra2 capable ProLiant Servers, ProLiant Storage Systems, AlphaServers, and Modular Array enclosures by HP"

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Raj.

Re: ML530 G1 vs U320 HDD
If you are using a 5300 smart array controller which happens to use the U3 protocol, then U320 disks can be used as per the quickspecs.

Re: ML530 G1 vs U320 HDD
Some said in forum that using Online Mode to configure array make we don't know wether the process succeed or not and can take many days to weeks to complete the process. Is that right ? Thank you
