ML530 G2

I just want to be sure that I am in the right forum. Can someone verify that this is applicable to my situation?

Server: Proliant ML530 G2
Processors: Dual 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 Xeon
Memory: 2GB
Array Controllers: Two 5300s
NO onboard Light's out-board.

Just started to have this issue earlier this month. Not frequent. Then, within the last week, it's been daily. Errors as described in the IML:

Under Support Paq 6.1
Blue Screen Trap (BugCheck, STOP: 0x00000077 (0xC000009C, 0xC000009C, 0x00000000, 0x01115000))

Followed by Array errors, such as:
Drive Array Device Failure (Slot 1, Bus 1, Bay 0)

After upgrading today to Support Paq 6.3
Blue Screen Trap (BugCheck, STOP: 0x00000041 (0x00001000, 0x0000F40E, 0x000008A8, 0x00051453))

Also followed by Arrary errors.

Notice that before updating to 6.3, the STOP was 0x00000077, now it's 0x00000041.

What's strange about this issue is that it just started happening. This server has been in place since January of this year.

1.) Do the fixes discussed in this forum pertain to the ML530 G2?

2.) I do not believe that an hp rep recommended disabling the Hyperthreading. Can someone verify that this also helps, or maybe an hp rep can answer?

3.) I have two array controllers in my server. Every time it Blue screens, the IML mentions the Array controller on Slot 1 having issues. Is there a possibility of hardware failure - Array controller?

For now, I will install the recommended patches posted. I will also dis-activate the System Information.

Thanks,

-Chris Castaned

Re: ML530 G2

Hi Chris;

First of all, yes - you are in the right forum.

Secondly, disabling hyperthreading will reduce your OS performance if you are running a hyperthreading operating system (i.e. - win2003). If you are not running a hyperthreading OS (NT4.0 for instance) disabling this feature will not affect your performance.

Third, when you are able to schedule downtime, run the Array Diagnostic Utility from a SmartStart CD to see if it detects problems with the array controller in slot 1.

Just a start - hope it helps.

Re: ML530 G2

Thank you Janine,

I meant to post this in the "Blue screen "BugCheck STOP...." on DL380G3 + W2KSERVER" discussion where several tips have already taken place. I appreciate your quick response. I will post this message there.

Thanks,

-Chris
