ML530: No video output, orange light on face
Lights on the motherboard are all green except:
1. Amber light near CPU
2. Blue light near backplane
All pci cards are removed, tape drive is unplugged. 5 hard drives are lit up green and cd drive is constantly being accessed (even when empty).
Two sticks of ram have been used side by side in each of 4 possible paired configurations.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: ML530: No video output, orange light on face
The Amber LED NEAR the CPU rings the Bell !
Try reseating the CPU,PPM.
How many CPU do u have in there ? If 2, try booting with one.
Also, Which Generation server is it ?
I cant recall out of my head, But THE PPM might be an INTEGRATED one. That case the system board goes.
Regards,
James.

Re: ML530: No video output, orange light on face
This time I got further since the fans ramped down two times and now the ram LED's are all illuminated orange.
One orange light on the front panel still (the triangle).
Should the ram LED's be orange?

the server ws working fine any change?
did you try putting the processor in other slot? to check if the amber LED is following processor?
so the fans are spinning?

Re: ML530: No video output, orange light on face
I got the orange mobo cpu light to turn off.
This is a new unit to me, no history available.
All ram slots show orange led's, I think that means no compatible ram found. I have the same results with ecc and non ecc ram.
Still no signal to the monitor.
I flipped dip switch 1 to both positions, still no video. The change was made with the power disconnected. Switch is currently in the on position.
1. on
2. off
