ML530 Offline Firmware Update

Hi...
I've lately experiencing problems performing offline firmware upgrade. I'm using the following procedure:
Boot from the latest (I think) Firmware CD (version 7.90) and from the Firmware Update tab I choose the install firmware link. Than it lists de software packages at the \compaq\swpackages directory and at the next stage notinhg hapens.
Does anyone knows how long does that stage takes at an ML 530 dual Xeon @3GHz with 4GB RAM and 8*72GB HDD array.
I need to upgrade some of the HDD's firmware.

Thank you!
André

Re: ML530 Offline Firmware Update

It stop's @ "page10" Check System for Installed Items. The progress bar reaches the end and keeps boucing back and forward. does not get to the
"Select Items to be Installed" page(11).

Thaks for you fast reply...

Re: ML530 Offline Firmware Update

I am not sure that the ML530 supports the 7.90 firmware. I thought that 7.60 was the last one for this model server, but you might double-check.

Re: ML530 Offline Firmware Update

hi

Rancher that's a good point

but I assumed that was a G2 according to this
"ML 530 dual Xeon @3GHz"
ML530 it just a PIII.... you know
I mean a G1 with that processor... no way

so in that way André is applying the good one

let's wait while André does something more

Re: ML530 Offline Firmware Update

Hi Andre,

The latest version of Firmware cd supported by ML530 server is 7.50.You may check this from the link below

Now im not sure if the server is ML530 G1 or its a G2.If its ML530 G2 then the its 7.90

Re: ML530 Offline Firmware Update

Thank you all guys!!! I am sure it is a G2... I've take my time "looking" at it. And the 7.90 Firmware CD is apropriated... I've allready done a on-line firmware update, but the online method can't be apllied for HDD firmware upgrade. And, as I mentioned, there is a Tape loader conected to an external SCSI port that might be causing this mess.

Will give you all feedback as soon as possible.

but take a look of this

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?locale=en_US&objectID=c00859596

depending on HDDs there are files like that one

Installation
"
If using the Firmware Maintenance CD 7.60 or later, then Boot the server from the Firmware Maintenance CD and use the HP Firmware Update tab. Click on the Install Firmware link to run HP Smart Update Manager"
