ML530 disk failure
Hi!
I have a 3-disk RAID 5 Array in my ML530. One disk is failing but I can't replace it right now.
The computer is still running but the array is broken.
Is is possible to convert this array to a RAID 0+1 array? Of course, without losing data because it's the main partition (c:\).
If I can't convert it, what are my options?
Thanks a lot!

Re: ML530 disk failure
Hi!
No you can't convert a RAID 5 to a RAID 1+0 only works the other way around i'm afraid.
Can't se any other option then replacing the failed disk.. or continue running the RAID5 with one disk broken. This means that you don't have any redundancy..

Re: ML530 disk failure
I forgot to say that I have two other disk with RAID 0+1. Maybe I can brake that array -I don't have important data in the logical disk- and complete the RAID 5.
How to do the procedure?. If I unplug the working disk and connect it in the failed disk slot, the RAID controllers does the rest?
Thanks!

Re: ML530 disk failure
don't really know what will happen if you just use a disk from the same server..
The server's Array controller stores its config on both the Controller itself and on the drive..
As I've never tried this i can't tell you what will happen.
