ML530G1 Array Controller Upgrade Problem
I remove the 3200 and insert th 5300 into the same slot.
When i reboot, it says it can't find the controller.
Do i need to load anything to get it to recognize?

Re: ML530G1 Array Controller Upgrade Problem
Probably we are missing the driver installation for the Smart array 5300 controller.
You can find it here:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/22901.html
Also try to flash the ROM for this controller.
it is available here:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/21818.html
Hope this works!!!
Regards,
rmn

Re: ML530G1 Array Controller Upgrade Problem
Or should it just pick it up?

Re: ML530G1 Array Controller Upgrade Problem
Follow the procedure and check if this helps:
1. With the 3200 controller, Install the 5300 controller drivers for OS.
2. Turn off the remove the 3200 controller.
3. Install the 5300 controller.
4. Verify the 5300 controller is detected during post and the logical drivers are detected.
5. Goto 5300 controller BIOS (F8) and check Raid is intact.
6. BIOS should automatically detect the controller and boot from the controller.
Regards,
Raj.

Re: ML530G1 Array Controller Upgrade Problem
"The software will not be installed on this system because the required hardware is not present in the system or the software/firmware does not apply to this system."
I am trying to install version 5.72.0.32
Any ideas?

Re: ML530G1 Array Controller Upgrade Problem
In that case try the following:
1. With the Harddisks connected to 3200 controller, Install the 5300 controller card in the slot.
2. Install the Drivers for the 5300 controller card.
3. Turn off the remove the 3200 controller.
3. Connect the Harddrives to 5300 controller.
4. Verify the 5300 controller is detected during post and the logical drivers are detected.
5. Goto 5300 controller BIOS (F8) and check Raid is intact.
6. BIOS should automatically detect the controller and boot from the controller.
Regards,
Raj.
