ML570 G1 Processor Upgrades

Current the server has four 700mhz 1MB 100mhz bus processors in it. Will the processor kit 222627 work? They are 900mhz 2MB 133mhz bus processors. Looking at the doc I have found so far, it looks like they should be able to plug right in. Is that correct?

Re: ML570 G1 Processor Upgrades

Hi Keith,

Option 222627-B21 will work fine. The system board is common to all models and for CPU's above 800Mhz there is no need to modify the core switch settings on the system board. Only have 900Mhz OR 700Mhz CPU's installed, don't mix them. Any empty CPU slots need a terminator board if you can't get 4 X 900Mhz CPU's.

Make sure you update the system BIOS to the latest version BEFORE you replace the CPU's so that you don't get an "Unsupported CPU" error at POST on the first bootup with the new CPU's. This is BIOS (P20) dated 12/17/2002. Check to see if you already have it. If not then go here: -

As stated above, the option (sales) part number is 222627-B21. The Spare (service)part number for the 900Mhz 2Mb CPU is 188594-001 if you fancy looking on E-bay, HP partsurfer or elsewhere etc.

I have put together a small summary to clarify the above and attached it to this reply.

I hope this helps.

Re: ML570 G1 Processor Upgrades

What is the largest P3 Xeon the ML570 G1 will support? Is it the P3 900 MHZ 2MB one?
