ML570 G1 problems booting from DVD

I have a ML570 and replaced the CDROM with a DVDROM.
I have updated the firmware to latest with the firmware v7.4 CD bringing the system bios to P20 (12/17/2002).
I can read and boot from a CD, and read from a DVD, but I'm unable to boot from a bootable DVD.
Can anyone please give me some advise?

What type of DVD drive is it? I know that some can not be used as a boot device.

I have tried three brands so far
1) Compaq
2) Samsung
3) Liteon
