ML570 RACK Mount QUAD PIII700

My Proliant ML570 has developed a fault of some kind. It powers on and runs all test without an issue then without warning shuts down into a sort of standby mode. The disk are all active, the fans run a full power but the server Power ON LED is amber (standby mode).

The configuration is a follows;
Windows 2003
3xPower Supplies
3GB RAM
5x18GB SCSI in Cage 1 (Raid 5)
6x36gb SCSI in Cage 2 (Ultra 320) (Raid 5)
2x100MBs Nic
SmartSCSI 2P Contollor
7x50GB SCSI in external F1 Unit. (Raid 5)

I was thinking that maybe it was the power, are the Ultra320 drives drawing too much power? All test are OK and no errors are reported in any logs.

Any ideas?

try to pull pair of Processors out if you have terminator Board. http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/showphoto?partnumber=329271-001

Possibly Power Supply backplane affected

Try to pull all card out, disconnect Drive Cage SCSI Cables boot from CD or Floppy see if Server goes down

Re: ML570 RACK Mount QUAD PIII700

The fault started while running Windwos 2003. The server just went into this sort of stnadby mode all of a sudden. Turn power off and restarted no pst errors, ran compaq utilities no hardware errors. Nothing in Windows event log, nothing in hardware log. The system would run for about an hour and then shutdown (like someone pushed the off button).

Yesterday removed all boards and drives server ran all day no problem. Turne server off and back on then did the same thing just after the post and now goes straight into this mode. Power LED amber (like standby mode) but power is being supplied to all drives and all fans run at full power.
