ML570 and Smart Array 641?

I'm trying to install a 641 in the ML570 G2. I've been assured that this is doable by my vendor and I'm struggling with it.

Installing the card is the easy part but the break down of the SCSI A and SCSI B and which goes to what and if I need an extension cable are the issues at hand. Does SCSI B only go to the storage bay devices or does it cover half of the Hot-Swap drive rack? What is the proper configuration for installing a 641 in the ML570 hardware wise? Alas, neither the manual on the 570 nor the 641 have been much help on this front.

Here are all available Manuals for 570

For SA641

With 641-controller there only one channel you can use either External or Internal. So for Internal config Cable should be connected directly to SCSI cage.
You sure aren't 642?

Re: ML570 and Smart Array 641?

The card is definately a 641. Actually, I just got enough slack in the cable to run to the 641 on SCSI A. Which was my goal. Although I'm now wondering if this is the right way to go, as with just one port the 641 can't handle much if I ever try to upgrade.

But the 642 has one internal and one external, instead of 2 internal which is what I'd really need to make this work right in the future. Any ideas?

Re: ML570 and Smart Array 641?

This is something I'm working on as well. It looks like I've got 2 SA 641's Slot 1 is set to boot, and I can only see drive cage A.

This will be set up as a SQL server. I thought that this is what it would look like

Mirrored OS
CageA-0 and CageB-0 (36 GB)
Mirrored Logs
CageA-1 and CageB-1 (146 GB)
Raid5 Data
CageA-2,3,4,5 and CageB-2,3,4,5 (1TB)

Is this doable with this current setup? If not, how would it be possible? Or is there a better way that I haven't thought of?

thanks
