ML750 - getting a volume larger than 502gb (21-72.8gb HD)
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=254949&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=254949&objectID=PSD_EX030203_CW01
I've tried a 5202 controller now, but the drives aren't seen at boot. I noticed that the stock controller is cableless, but none in the hyperlink are. I can't seem to find a controller that would be cableless, and support greater than 502GB. Anyone?

Re: ML750 - getting a volume larger than 502gb (21-72.8gb HD)
The ML750 uses the Smart Array 4250ES (Extended SCSI)cards in slots 10 and 11 of the I/O module. These slots use the Extended SCSI feature to take the SCSI signals from the 4250ES to 3 connectors at the side of the I/O module and down to the 3 drive backplanes (That is why there are no cables on the 4250ES cards).
If you want to fit alternative PCI Smart Array controllers you have to run the cables from the drive backplanes to these contrllers instead of the I/O module connectors.
The cables should be long enough to be removed from their connectors on the I/O module and fitted directly to the ports on a 5302 etc. To control 3 drive backplanes you will need another controller for the third port.
The ML750 Setup and Install guide should help with what's required. Download from here.

I hope this helps.

Re: ML750 - getting a volume larger than 502gb (21-72.8gb HD)
Will I be able to make 1 logical drive with that to make a large 1.5 TB volume with two controllers?

Why would one ant to use say a 5302 instead of the 4250ES?
Thanks.
