MSA-500

Hi,

I've had a request to go out and purchase a NAS box for some extra storage ~ 3TB needed by our development dept (SQL dev + backups)

We've inherited 2 x MSA-500 boxes from one of our other companies. It makes sense to use them (or one of them). They are listed as being primarily used for clustering. Does anyone know whether I use them just as storage enclosures and populate them with disks to perform a NAS function. I've also got a DL380 G3 so planned to hang them off of that.

Re: MSA-500

Yes, you can use MSA500 as external RAID-storage with SCSI-connect to the host. If you will use dl380g3 no additional adapter required. Compatible controllers is Smart Array 532 and 5i, dl380g3 have last one.
Up to 4 independent servers supported (without clustering). 2-node cluster supported as well.
BR, Oleg.
