Management module server enclosure

The fault led on the management module of the server enclosure is on and via the serial connnection it's says faultcode 1 (see attachement)
What can it be?

Also via ILO on the blade it's says Server Management module temp unavailable.

Sound familiar?

Is there a resolution?

Re: Management module server enclosure

What you have for bus bars?
How you connect Power to enclosure ?
Disconnect links and press Reset button and Unit identification button at same time for few seconds. If you use mini bars change power Zone on the second Power and enclosure. Update Firmware for Power management Modules one at time. Reset physically actual Management Module for server enclosure. From enclosure what you have in Bay 5/6 BL30p ? 45 ? Swap Management Module with one from second Enclosure, see if Problem follows it. can you power only side B for enclosure and see if faulty status still exist

Re: Management module server enclosure

Hey Kov thanks for your reply.

All servers are BL20p's, they use a scalable bus bar.
Is it save to reset the management module in an operational environment so the servers are not involved ?

Unfortunately, it's at the customer site so i don't have the option to swap around iám afraid.

Maybe firmware can help but i remember all firmwares were 2.10

So, finally i want to know is the reset a save option?

Thnk a lot Jerry

Re: Management module server enclosure

Yes you can reset management module on the enclosure

Check:
Page 31 for: power zone recommendation
Update Firmware with 2.2 one at time
Page 87 check for: Load-balancing signal cable connector

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00065042/c00065042.pdf

also check that for reset step ... who knows

and all remaining step if possibly at scheduled downtime

Re: Management module server enclosure

Thanks KOV.

But it isn't still clear to me, it's possible to reset the module without interrupting the servers or switches

Re: Management module server enclosure

It's save for Server and switches; they won't go down, however your network connectivity will drop for a moment on all units from enclosure.
