Maximun processor speed for a Proliant 5500?
My Proliant 5500 is currently configured with two 450 MHz Xeon processors. I have four Pentium III, P3, Xeon 700/100/1M processors that I believe came from a DL580. Can I use them in the 5500? What would the clock selector switch settings be for the 700 MHz processor?
Thanks,
Andrew
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Maximun processor speed for a Proliant 5500?
Hi Andrew,
As per the Specs, Proliant 5500 Supports Pentium II Xeon Model 400 or 450 MHz and Pentium III Xeon Model 500 MHz or 550 MHz.
Pentium III, P3, Xeon 700 is not supported on this server. Also all processors should be running at the same clock speed. We should not mix different processors.
Following is one of the advisory for Setting 450-MHz Pentium II Xeon Processor To Operate At 400-MHz:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_EH990428_CW01
Check if that helps to set 700-MHz processor to run at 550 MHz.
Regards,
Raj.
