Memory Missing in HP Proliant ML370 G5 server

Hello,

Our company just purchased HP ML370 G5 that comes with a standard of 4GB. I installed the Win2003 Enterprise Server OS, then i added an additional 4GB to the server.

I now started the server and i saw 8GB as the total memory in the boot up screen. But when i checked in the Windows enviroment, i only saw 3.2GB. So what i did is to download the Rompaq and installed it but still the same.

Can anyone assist me in my problem, don't know what will i do next.

Thanks.

Re: Memory Missing in HP Proliant ML370 G5 server

Depending on the windows version used only 4GB are supported. Search the net for 4gb limit and you get so many hits.

Hope this helps!

Re: Memory Missing in HP Proliant ML370 G5 server

Our Windows 2003 enterprise is a volume license. Also we have different servers(e.g. HP DL585 G5) with 64GB memory that can be detected by the same OS i used.

So what do you think is the issue.

Re: Memory Missing in HP Proliant ML370 G5 server

If your using "Windows Server 2003 x86" then yes you are only ever going to be able to address 4GB of RAM.

You need the 64bit version of Server 2003 if you want to use more.
