Memory Upgrade Question
Hi, I have a Proliant DL 380 G4 server with 3GB of RAM. The first two slots have 512 MB each and the second two slots have 1 GB of RAM each for a total of 3GB. I have purchased 2GB of HP RAM to install in the third two slots. My system does not recognize the new RAM. It now says I have 3.5GB of RAM and not the 5GB that I'm supposed to have. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue? Does it matter what slot the 512 are in?
Thanks
Kathy
Thanks
Kathy

Re: Memory Upgrade Question
Do you mean that the server sees 3.5 GB during POST, or you use Windows Server and the OS sees only 3.5 GB? If it's a problem with Windows, you need to use /PAE switch in boot.ini file.

Re: Memory Upgrade Question
Hi Kathy,
Yes as suggested the /PAE switch should resolve your problem if it's an operating system issue with the memory rather than a POST issue when the system boots.
