Memory Upgrade in a Proliant DL365 G5

This server has one AMD Opteron processor with 4-1Gb memory modules in the first 4 slots.  If I want to add additional memory using slots 4-8 do I have to have the 2nd processor installed?

Hi there,

In AMD, memory dimms are mapped to processor as memory controller is part of processor board.

As per quickspecs, DIMM banks are active only when the corresponding processor socket is populated. so you need to add additional processor if you like to utilize all the memory slots available
