Memory expansion for ML570T01 X700-1M 1P EURO - (138665-421
I was wondering if the above mentioned server would allow to run with PC133 Mhz. ECC memory if I would add it in pairs of 4? I currently have 2 x 512 MB SDRAM PC133 Mhz. ECC lying around and would like to purchase an additional set so I would have 2 Gb of internal memory. (4 x 512).
Currently the server uses 8 x 128 Mb. SDRAM PC100 ECC memory, and was wondering if it would accept PC133 Mhz. memory....Can't seem find the info online. (The FSB runs at 100 Mhz. I believe). Perhaps someone knows?
One additional question, would the server accept PC100 and PC133 Mhz. to run together? (all PC100 Mhz. running in pairs of 4 as well as the PC133 Mhz.)
Thanks!

Re: Memory expansion for ML570T01 X700-1M 1P EURO - (138665-421
Thanks for your reply. You are right about that, however if I check with memory supplier sites like crucial for example, I see they offer PC100 and PC133 Mhz. memory. See website :
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Compaq%2BProLiant&mfr=Compaq&cat=&model=ProLiant+ML570&submit=Go
In the past, I used to be able to run PC133 along with PC100 MHz. memory in a PC with a FSB of 100 Mhz. Not sure how picky Compaq servers are...
Thanks again.

Memory is designed to be backward-compatible, so generally speaking, you can safely add faster memory to your computer. However, your system will operate at the speed of the slowest module.
You say that you have two 2 x 512 lying around, so why not try before you buy?

Re: Memory expansion for ML570T01 X700-1M 1P EURO - (138665-421
I did try it, but then found out it will only accept memory in groups of 4. So I need to buy an additional 2 x 512 PC133 Mhz. ECC SDRAM module to actually get the system to POST.
Thanks for the reply though.
