Memory installed doesn't detect all in DL380G3
Hi,
Currently i had a HP DL380 G3 with 3GB RAM installed (2 x 512mb, 2 x 1GB) and it's running Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition. When i installed another 2GB (2 x 1GB) memory into the server, at the BIOS level the system detects 5GB RAM installed but at the OS level, only 3GB+ RAM is detected. Read from Microsoft website that enterprise edition can support up to 32GB but somehow it fails to detect 5GB in the OS, in my case.
Any confgurations need to be done?? Any suggestions??
Pls advise. Thanks.

Re: Memory installed doesn't detect all in DL380G3
hi, it could be that the memory is configured as spare in the setup utility
You will have to configure the memory in the RBSU, F( when booting the server.
By default the last bank is configured as online spare.
This would mean that out of your 5gb you could only use 3gb minus any shared video memory
If you want to use all 5gb then then turn off online memory spare.
or swap the memory around so the 512's are in the last bank, that way it doesnt use it as spare as its not enough should one dimm fail

Re: Memory installed doesn't detect all in DL380G3
Hi,
You can try to add /PAE key into boot.ini.
By default OS does not enable memory over ~3.6 GB (Windows reports this amount). After adding this key it should be ok.
Br,
