Memory on new DL360 G5 server

Hi,

I have just installed two new DL360 G5 servers for a customer. Each one has 4GB RAM installed. However, the performance tab under Windows task manager only reports 3.4GB. I need to be able to explain to my customer why this is the case, and what it means in practice (apart from the obvious of having less RAM available to Windows). Is there any documentation available which explains the phenomenon? Is it something to do with PCI Express?

Thanks,
Dave.
