Memory

Quick question for all of you. I looked at buying a memory upgrade for our 2 Proliant ML530's and Compaq's price is about $500 for a 512 MB stick. This seems an awfully high price for PC133 SDRAM, even if it is Registered and ECC. I found ECC Registered memory for it at www.crucial.com for only $170. What gives? Is there something required or special about the Compaq memory other than the just being PC133 ECC Registered SDRAM?

Re: Memory

Now there's something to be said about compaq's memory, you'll find that by mixing the memory u have with another make then your leaving yourself open to injury, that is to say you have no warrenty if it don't work. i've seen people put kingston memory into compaq servers and they went turtle, this was down to a timing missmatch, remove the memory it works, add the memory it won't. magic. besides it's not great to skimp if it means quality, by the way I don't work for compaq or recive commission.
